Final Animation Details and Evaluation

In my final animation I have added and changed a few things. Firstly, I was going to draw the wand scene, however I prefered using stop motion as I found it easier to do and thought it looked better to use. It also fitted more with the other scenes as I had used stop motion for them aswell. Secondly, I added a few more stop motion scenes as I thought the animation needed to be a bit longer. And there were more things I wanted to try out with the playing cards.

Evaluation of Final Piece

I have found this project difficult and it is something I have never done before so I am pleased with my final piece as I think it shows my 3 words in an interesting way. I have enjoyed using stop motion and it is something I would like to use again in the future. The hand drawn scenes I found more difficult as they took up a lot of time to do. If I had to do something differently, for the final shot of the eye I would have not done it as a close up and  I would have liked to experiment more with hypnotic images. Lastly, I would maybe have used more than 12 frames per second so the final animation would have run a bit more smoothly.

I also think more experimentation would have made my final animation a lot better. I could have maybe used more props and photos to make the stop motion look more developed.
For my animation I have used the beginning part of the music, "Music is Math" as it is more hypnotic for the first part. The music changes later on and gets more hectic and wouldn't show my chosen words very well.
With the eye movements in this animation the first scene is a little too quick, so for my final animaion, scene 1 will be slowed down and the 2nd shot of the eye movements will be quicker. The eye movements will become quicker the more the hypnotizing pattern is watched.

Scene 8 Hand Drawn Animation - Masks

Seems dream like and magical to begin with, the plain mask becames scarier looking and angry. The masks represent the word "Mysterious" they hide someones identity. Can be seen as the magician who has hypnotized the person, they are unknown.

Scene 1- Hand Drawn Animation

Beginning of the animation- Close up of someones eyes moving in a circular motion.

Hand Drawn Animation

For my hand drawn images I coloured them in by hand. However, when i scanned them in I put some of them on photoshop and went over the colour to make it look a better quality as with the pen you are able to see pen lines and it doesn't come out with an even colour.
In my animation there will be a series of spiral patterns that will be the hypnotic image that hypnotizes the person. I have chosen the colour purple as i think it is quite mysterious and looks eye-catching.

To show that the person has become hypnotized, the hynotic spiral will appear in their eye and it will use the same colours.

To show the word "Mysterious" I am using images of masks which for me represent this word. This is an abstract way of saying you do not know who is hyponotizing this person. They are unkown. You are uncertain of what is happening.

The mask then transforms into a scarier looking mask.

I have used the colour red because its a very harsh colour..

The mask uses very harsh pointy edges with sharp eyes and jagged eyebrows to look scary and is a contrast from before where the festures of the mask were rounded and basic. The mask transforming is seen as the climax of the animation and this slightly changes the mood. The animation seems to start off as a dream sequence with what the hypnotized person is seeing (Magicians magic tricks) and then it turns into a nightmare.

The close up of the masks hypnotized eye becomes the eye of the person being hypnotized.

They then blink and are out of the trance.
